About:Chinese Consulate in New York

HK Visa for Chinese citizen

My itinerary is as follows:
Jfk -> Beijing (hour layover) -> chengdu for 8 days. Chengdu -> HK for three days. HK -> Beijing (hour layover) -> JFK

Do I need an entry permit to HK if I'm a Chinese citizen? The transit part is weird and I'm not sure if I need an entry permit or not since I layover in Bejing instead of directly going back to USA.

Ryan, you should apply for an entry permit for the HK trip because you depart from mainland to HK and then back. This is not considered as valid transit.

Thank you. How long does it usually take to get a HK entry permit from the consulate?

If you submit your application to the consulate and it deals with your application by itself, it usually takes 4 working days; but if your application is transferred to HK immigration department, 4 – 6 weeks are needed.
