Whats the best way to travel to Dunhuang from Urumqi in August?

Are there other places to visit in or near Dunhuang? How much time should we stay there as we also plan to
visit Lanzhou. Is there train transport from Dunhuang to Lanzhou?

As far as I know, there is only one flight a day, departing from Urumqi at 11:40 and arriving in Dunhuang at 13:20.

Usually visitors to Dunhuang would charter a minivan or taxi to set out a west-line tour to famous sites in one day, such as the Mogao Caves, Echoing-Sand Mountain/Crescent Lake, Western Thousand-Buddha Cave, Yumenguan Great Wall, and Yardang National Geopark (these sites need at least 2 days). It would take CNY400~500 for a one-day tour.
After that, either take a plane or a train to get to Lanzhou.
