stduent X1 visa extension, when should I apply for the extension?

Good day sir, i came to china on an X1 type, but i applied for six months, my X1 type will expire after two months from now, can i ask the school to extend now, or i have to wait till the X1 type expires completely before i can extend?i intend to extend for an additional six months, if i do it now can my X1 type be valid for eight months?

Joel, because you hold X1 type, you can just extend your temporary residence permit and you should extend it 30 days prior to the expiry of the validity period on your residence permit.

will they cut away the one left before giving my six months visa, or they will add to make seven months

It cannot be for 7 months. Although you apply for it 30 days prior to its expiry date, it takes a relatively long time to process your application. So when you get the extended residence permit, your previous one may expire. In this way, it cannot be 7 months.
