About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does this work if I take a direct flight to Shanghai then back to the US?

Parker, no, it cannot work. If you want to use the 144 hour free transit, after transiting in Shanghai, you shouldn’t fly back to US and you should fly to a third country or region.
