Stopover in China via Air China

I am a US citizen and I am importing a domestic short-haired cat to LA. I will be on Air China. I was told by the Beijing office that I have to stop over in Beijing in order for my cat to be able to travel onwards to Calif. Please advise re: visa, quarantine, hotel stay, etc. Thank you.

You can apply for a tourist L type to enter PRC. As for the quarantine, it should be done at Beijing Airport Entry-exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau and usually it can be done in one day, so you can get the Animal Health Certificate on the next day.
May I know where you will stay so that I can tell you the hotel? If you will stay around the airport, you can stay at the airport hotel or 7 Days Inn which is close to the airport. It would be very convenient.
