About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Standby today

My husband is flying standby to Shanghai today from Los Angeles . he holds a confirmed onward ticket to Tokyo, but the airline is refusing to let him go? Saying they are not aware of this 144 visa. Any help? Would it be easier to fly into Tokyo and then Shanghai then back to USA? As maybe Japan is familiar with this 144 free transit?

Tawnya, if the airline is refusing to let him go and you can't persuade the airline staff, it seems that your hudband has no way but travel to Tokyo instead. Then he can fly from there to Shanghai and then back to the USA. Remember that he must hold a confirmed ticket returning back to Shanghai fromt he USA in that case.
