About:Tibet Travel Permit

American living and working in China travelling with Chinese friends.

Hi, I'm an American with a residency and work visa, living and working in China. I have a group of Chinese friends who are planning a trip to Tibet and I'd really like to go with them. We'd be traveling by car. Do I need a special visa/permit? Would I be allowed in with a group of Chinese friends, or turned away at the border because I'm not part of a "tour group"? Thanks for the help.

The regulations of foreigners visiting there is still quite strict. Although you are working and living in China, the travel permit is also needed. Visit there on your own cannot work. You have to join a group tour.
