About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Chicago to Shanghai

I'm traveling from Chicago to Pudong airport in Shanghai. I will be staying at a hotel and leaving within 24 hours and flying to Bali. Will I need anything other than a passport?

Will, in addition to the passport, you need to have a confirmed ticket to Bali and the visa to Bali (if required).
