mode of transportation to great wall

We scheduled a tour to Beijing this October and planning to visit there without a tour guide, is it possible? Can you give us details on how to go there?

You’d better avoid the National Day holiday from Oct. 1st to Oct. 7th. There will definitely be many visitors at the Wall. It is suggested you visit Badaling Section, because it is the most popular one and can be easily accessed by taking train S2 at Beijing North Railway Station. After around 1 hour’s trip, you can transfer to free bus or walk to the entrance of the scenic area.
