About:Chinese Consulate in New York

can I apply for HK visa at the consulate general of PRC in NYC

I'm a vietnamese citizen but holding US green card . I want to go to Hong Kong for vacation for 3 days .
I went to Chinese embassy in NYC office but they told me in order to apply for Hong Kong visa I need to call Hong Kong immigration department in Hong Kong . They do not handle HK entry permit in Chinese consulate in NYC. Is this information accurate ? I read online that I can apply for Hong Kong entry permit at Chinese consulate general office in NYC . In addition , it's also stated that if I apply for Chinese entry permit, it include the entry permit for Hong Kong and Macao .
Can you please help? I am very confused
Thank you

Dung, if the embassy told you like that, they must be telling you the truth. So I’m afraid you need to post your application to HK immigration department to apply for it.
As far as I know, even though you can get mainland PRC entry permit, it doesn’t include the entry permit to HK. You need to apply for another entry permit to enter HK.

Thank you for your reply. I just meet 1 guy at the Embassy. I dont know if he is accurate. Is there any way that you can confirm?

What I found on the website is totally different from what you told. Below is the link saying " You may submit your application in person to Chinese Embassy/ Consulate General based on your State of residence (Locate a Visa Office that serves your state); or mail your application directly to the Immigration Department of HKSAR Government."

This is another link that say China visa include entry to HK:"Services Provided by Consular Office
1. Issue Chinese visa (including Visa/Entry Permit to Hong Kong and Macau)"

Do you think this source is not accurate? Do you think it is very crucial for the information posted online be very precise? I already book the flight/ hotel and everything. If what you told is accurate, i think you may need to contact someone in the office to fix the website to ensure the information provided is precise and accurate. It will help others to avoid this annoying issue in the future.

Dear, usually, you can apply for it from the consulate general of PRC or from HK immigration department. But as you said, the consulate general of PRC in NYC said they don’t process HK entry permit. They won’t deceive you. So you’d better apply for it from HK immigration department direct.

As for your second question, the consulate general does issue entry permits to mainland PRC, HK and Macau and they are separate. If you just apply for mainland PRC entry permit, you cannot use it to enter HK and Macau.
