Abhi, in principle, your passport is required to cancel the residence permit, but in real practice, if you left the company, your employer can inform the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to cancel your residence permit.

Thank you for reply. But how it can confirm that my residence permit is cancelled by employer because there is no stamped on passport and if i fly back to china and at during immigration process at port is there will chances to stop me at port? because i feel they must need my passport for cancel my residence permit. My employer told me that they only going to cancel my work permit and residence permit exist till its expiry date. Please tell me your view on it.

If your employer told you like that, maybe your residence permit is not cancelled. If so, you can use it to enter PRC and you won’t be stopped at the port.
But if possible, you’d better apply for an entry permit to go there. Just in case and just to be safe.

Hi Lawrence,

Thank You for your information as you mentioned following line.

"but in real practice, if you left the company, your employer can inform the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to cancel your residence permit."

How i can ensure that my residence permit is valid or invalid because im located at my home county and passport with me?
And more over there is no cancellation stamp over Residence page on passport. Can i travel back to china using same residence permit?
At both(China/Home Country) immigration time at port how they ensure that Residence permit is valid? Because there is no cancellation stamp on residence page.

You response is so valuable for me.:)

The quickest way is to contact with your previous employer and consult if he/she informs the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to cancel your residence permit. If not, you can use the same residence permit to enter PRC.
But anyway, I think it’s risky. If I were you, I would apply for a new visa to enter PRC.

Hi Lawrence,

Thank you for your reply.

Currently my new employer waiting for cancellation letter of current work permit and then they will apply for new work permit. Probably a getting new work permit it take almost 20 days as they suggested.

As we discussed in previously I am currently located in Home country and as per my previous employer told me that they won't cancel my residence permit. But even I am not sure that they willing to cancel residence permit or not.

In such case can I apply for tourist or business visa at my home country for enter in PRC?

And after enter in PRC using tourist or business visa can I apply for residence permit on basis of new work permit?

Please suggest me your concern.

Thank You

You can apply for tourist visa or business visa in your home country and then enter PRC.
You cannot apply for residence permit if you enter PRC with tourist L visa or business M visa. of course, if you find a new work and get work Z type, you can apply for the residence permit.

Hi

In my case already found new job and probably they will apply for new work permit. Because they will receive my current work permit cancellation certificate in few days so they immediately process for work permit.

My query is : In that case i need to apply Z visa in my home country? for enter into china

Your reply is so valuable for me.
