About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does my US Passport still need 6 months of validity if I am only staying in Shanghai for 18 hours?

I have a layover of 18 hours and leave from the other Shanghai airport, so the 144 hour perioud is sufficient, but my passport expires a month after my trip, do I still need 6 months of passport validity to enter Shanghai for this transit period?

Sean, your passport doesn’t need to have 6 months of validity when you transit in Shanghai. You can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit when you transit in Shanghai as long as your passport is valid. So don’t worry!
