I'm traveling from Bangkok to LA via Chengdu Airport then refueling at Nanjing Airport during transit in 8.5 hours. do I need to apply transit visa or I'm qualify for 72 hours free transit? if I need to apply transit G type, which passport should I use (Australian OR Thai) ? Please advise me so I will go ahead with my application. Thanks..Aree (28/03/2016)

As you will stop in two Chinese cities, you are not eligible for the 72hr free transit policy. If your total layover time in the two cities are not more than 24 hours, the entry permit is still not needed. However, if the layover time is longer, you need to apply for the transit G type. If you are now in Thailand, you should use the Thai passport to apply.
