About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

My ticket is Tokyo to Guangzhou and then back to Tokyo overnight transit back to canada.

Can we consider canada as third country final destination given there is overnight transit in Tokyo from Guangzhou

Dear, if so, you cannot use the free transit in Guangzhou because you fly back to Tokyo after your stopover in Guangzhou. You need to apply for a tourist L type in advance.
But if you fly to Canada direct after staying in Guangzhou, you can enjoy the free transit.
