Can I get X2 visa in China?

Hello Travel agent,
My name is Yen.
Recently I apply for 154 days exchange language in one university in PRC. As the requirement on the website for X2 I don't need JW202. But the embassy over here in Vietnam they still require JW202. It will take at least 3 weeks to send that document from China to get here. So I just apply for a tourist L type because my school gonna start soon at the beginning of April. My question is: Can I change from L to X2 when I get to PRC? And how can I do it? Can you help?!!!!!
Thank you and waiting to hear from you soon!
Best regards,
Yen

Yen, I cannot tell you for sure you can change L type to X2 type after you enter PRC. But as far as I know, someone has changed it successfully before. You need to prepare all the required documents for X2 type application, and then go to the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to change L type to X2 type.

You need to provide those documents include the application form and a recently-taken passport-style photo, your passport and copy of its data page, and the admission letter from the school in PRC. If possible, you’d better get the JW form from your school.
