Hi there, the ferries to Yangshuo usually depart from 8:30 to 9:30 in the morning. So when you arrive from Guangzhou, I'm afraid you won't be able to catch any of them. In the case, you are advised to tour around the downtown area on the first day, and then go to Yangshuo by ferry the next morning.
Bullet trains arrive from Guangzhou at GL/GL North/GL West three railway stations. The west station is far from downtown and it is not recommended. GL Railway Station is in the downtown area, but there is only one arrival from Guangzhou at 16:28. The north station has more arrivals and you may arrive there. Upon arrival, there are city buses taking you to downtown.
BTW, if you are not so keen to the ferry ride, you can travel by bullet train from Guangzhou to Yangshuo directly. You can search for the train details on this website.
