Transit permit for Hong Kong

Dear There,

I am a Vietnamese citizen holding an ordinary Vietnamese passport. I have a valid Japan visa for a 15-day individual tourist trip to Japan next month. I'm flying back to Vietnam in mid-Apr but need to change between two independent flights at Hong Kong International Airport.

How can I apply Hongkong tourist entry permit from Chinese Embassy in Japan? What suitable type should I apply for a 4-hour layover in Hong Kong? How long does it take to have it?

Thank you very much and I'm expecting your answer.

a Vietnamese.

Linh, you should apply for a transit entry permit to HK.
You need to provide those documents including copy of your passport, the completed application form affixed with a passport-style photo, your valid entry permit to Japan, proof of your financial support, and your flight itinerary. Afterwards, submit the application to the embassy of PRC to apply for it. If the embassy accepts your application and deals with it on its own, it usually takes 4 working days. But if the application is transferred to HK immigration department, it takes 4 to 6 weeks.

Thank you very much for your valuable information.
It might be inconvenient for you but may I have an email contact of the China Embassy in Tokyo for this matter? (It's quite rush to me right now, you know).
Thanks.
Linh

Linh, I just find a telephone number 03-5785-6868. Maybe you can give a call and consult about the details.
