Do letters of invitation to visit China expire?

Hi there,
I am coming to China to take the Trans-Siberian Express with company G-Adventures, and the tour company is worried that if they issue the letter of invitation too early, it will expire. Can you please confirm whether letters of invitation expire, and how early before a trip I can organise the visa?
Thanks

Laurence, usually, the validity of an invitation letter is 3 months, so it can expire if it is issued too early.
You can apply for the entry permit 3 months earlier before you start your trip, but you are advised to apply for it one month earlier before your trip. In this case, you can ask the company to issue the invitation letter before your application.
