Stopover in Beijing during homebound trip

Hi! I am a German citizen and will be flying from Germany to Japan without stopping in China. During my trip back from Japan to Germany I would like to make a stopover in Beijing for approx. 2-3 days. Do I qualify for the 72 hour visa free entry or ist it just valid for outbound trips?

Mike, yes, you qualify for the 72 hour free transit and it’s, of course, also applicable to homebound trip.
