About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Have two flights connecting in China

I'm a US citizen and I got booked on my return flight to the US Bangkok to Kunming and Kunming to Shanghai
and Shanghai to San Fransisco. Will i have a problem here ?

If your total layover time in Kunming and Shanghai is less than 24 hours, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit. In this case, there will be no problem.
But if the total layover time is more than 24 hours, you should apply for a transit G type or tourist L type in advance of your trip.
