Do I Need a Transit or Tourist Visa to travel by Train through China

I Intend to enter from Vietnam by train and arrive in Beijing. I will be in Beijing for 5 days awaiting my next train connection to go to UllanBator. During these 5 days I would like to see The Great Wall, Forbidden City Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven and some various other sites in Beijing

Yes, Peter, you need to apply for a tourist L type entry permit in advance at the CVASC office in Australia. Have a good trip!
