About:China Tourist Visa

visa or ticket? which to get first?

My family and I would like to visit China. Which should we get first, entry permit or airfare ticket/accommodation? I believe, for tourist, the invitation comes from the agency. And we wouldn't be given entry permit if we don't get itinerary and confirmation. How long will the entry permit be effective? Thank you.

Lyn, if you book a tour, you can ask the travel agency to issue an invitation letter and the travel itinerary to you. After, you can apply for the tourist L type; but if you don’t book a tour, you need to buy the round trip air tickets first and then apply for it.
A tourist L type is usually valid for 3 months, but the stay duration in PRC after your entry is up to your travel plan. In most cases, one may be given a tourist L type with stay duration of 30 days.
