About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Procedure for application of Temporary Resident permit in Beijing and the permit fee

I came to Beijing on an F Visa in December 2015, which expires on the 20th of April 2016. I did not register with the police upon arrival nor did I apply for a temporary resident permit. However now I have a job offer for a year contract and I need a temporary resident permit. My question is, will it be possible to apply for the temporary resident permit now and what documents do I need? I'm staying with a host family

Hi there! If you can convert your F type into a Z type without leaving China, then you can apply for the temporary residence permit. However, as you did not register at the police before, I'm afraid it's difficult to convert the F type to Z type because a registration form of your temporary residence is required. You can go to the police for confirmation.

Anyway, if you can apply for the residence permit, you need to pay CNY 400 for a one-year residence permit.
