About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

A side trip to shanghai during stay in korea

I have a round trip ticket to seoul korea. During my stay in Korea I would like to take a short trip to Shanghai with a separate round trip from and back to korea. Would this qualify for the visa-free transit. I am a US passport holder.
Tks, Joe

Joe, it doesn’t qualify for the 144 hour transit because according to the policy, after stopover in Shanghai, you should fly to a third country or region different from Korea.
