Visa requirements for transiting in Shanghai

I arrive on a cruise ship into Shanghai and will be flying out less than 12 hours later ( UK passport holder) do I require an netry permit?

Craig, if you fly to a third country or region different from the one you come in after transiting in Shanghai, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit, so you don’t need an entry permit.
