About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

cruise passenger

I will arrive in Shanghai by cruise ship. I will take the transportation provided by the cruise ship (there are no stops, it goes directly from the ship to the airport) and board a plane to Canada within 6 hours of my arrival at the Shanghai airport. Do I still need a visa?

Ernie, you don't need it but you'd better confirm this with the cruise company before departure.

The cruise line is saying that I require a visa. I do believe that there is a lot of confusion regarding the visa because it has only been in place for 2 weeks now. I will cruise in September so hopefully things will be clearer regarding the visa by then.
