New Zealand passport holder tourist visa for China

I hold a New Zealand passport and will be visiting Hong Kong in June. If I want to visit Shenzhen, maybe overnight there, do I need to get an entry permit from the China office in Hong Kong or can I just turn up on the train from Hong Kong and get an entry permit at the China border? Thank you.

Best thing would be to take the metro to LOWU then once there you will go through HK immigration and right after that, before China immigration counters you will go to 'PORT VISA' bureau to get your 5 day VOA for Shenzhen.
