American citizen in CR needs visa for China

I am in San Jose and I want to know if I can get a L or Z type for PRC from the embassy here? I am here on a 90 day entry permit. I may be accepting a teaching job in PRC. Maybe that will help if I tell them. I may need to leave immediately.
