About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

arrival via Cruise into Shanghai, 2 nights hotel then fly out to New Zealand. transit visa ok?

No. This falls under 24-hour transit available to all nationalities. If you want to use the other TWOV than you MUST be arriving / departing by plane.

Carole, you cannot use the 72 hour free transit which is only for travelers by air, but it’s possible for you to enjoy the 24 hour direct transit. However, I cannot assure that it will work in the end, you’d better contact with the cruise ship and confirm that.
