If we were to hire a driver or guide (from Central Beijing) would it be possible to visit both sections in one day?

Personally, it is suggested to just visit one of them. The Jinshanling section is recommended. You can find both well-preserved and wild walls, and the scenery is worth your time. By contrast, Mutianyu has more developed facilities anyway! Just make your own decision.
