About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Does it matter which consulate office to apply at in USA?

I live in AL, it appears that I need to apply in Houston but want to confirm this. We will be traveling through Chicago, IL and was planning on applying there. Is this possible?

I'm afraid not. If you live in the consular district of the Houston Consulate, you have to apply from there.
