China Visa Requirements for South African Passport holders

Hi there,

I am a South African citizen and passport holder.

Do I need to a visa for China if I am traveling from Hong Kong to Vietnam, through China (overland transport eg. bus)?

Mike, if your layover time in mainland PRC is less than 24 hours in total, I think you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit. In this way, you don’t need an entry permit to PRC.
But if you stop over in mainland PRC for more than 24 hours, you should apply for a transit G type or tourist L type in advance of your trip.
