I happen to know several nice hotels near by and they are within 3-5min walking distance. I list them below for your reference.
1. Guoming Garden Hotel at No. 1, Beiyuanmen, Drum Tower.
2. Jinjiang Inn at No. 1, Shehui Road, Bell Tower & Drum Tower Square, West Avenue, Beilin District.
3. Bell Tower Hotel at No. 110, South Avenue.

Oh, Nasir. I know the Sahara Youth Inn, which is at no. 180, Beiyuanmen, very close to the quarter. Many foreigners stay there due to the location.

I suggest you stay at Melinhod Hotel, its just a 5 minute walk. Stayed there for 5 days in Dec 2015.

How far is the hotel from a supermarket?
Do they have Halal supermarket near the hotel as they have at Niujie in Beijing?

Yes, you can go to Huafeng Halal Supermarket at No. 13, Miaohou Street, Lianhu District. It is about 400 yards to the north of the hotel, so you can easily find it. :)
