About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Should I just need a temporary permit if I am on a cruise and our final destination is Tianjin?

as long as I stay less than 24 hours? I will fly in from China to Manila after. I am a Philippine passport holder.

Zed, you take a cruise to reach Tianjin and then fly from there to Manila within 24 hours? If so, you are qualified for 24 hours free transit.

Daisy, thanks! Does the free transit allow me to tour around the city prior to my flight to manila? so I can join the activities included in the cruise? Do I need to secure temporary entry permit or no need? thans much!

Zed, you are allowed to tour around the city! If you are eligible for the 24-hour direct transit, you can apply for a temporary stay permit upon arrival and use it to leave the port.

But I won't be going back to the port but instead will go to Tianjin airport for my flight back to manila. Same rules apply? Thanks much!

You are right. You can still enjoy the 24 hour direct transit. If you have any doubt, please contact the cruise company for double check.
