About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

I am a passport holder of Mainland China but has lived in the Philippines since birth.

I was able to go to HK last 2014 without a visa but when I asked the Chinese embassy today, they said I will be needing a tourist one. Any thoughts?

Marlon, if you just transit in HK within 7 days, you are exempted for the entry permit. However, your passport and connecting air tickets are required. If you plan to travel there for some time, you are required to apply for the entry permit from Chinese embassy in your country.

Thanks for the response! What if we go to Macau from Feb 3 to 5 and go back to HK for our flight home to Manila on February 7? Are we still required to apply one?

So you visit Macau first and then spend several days in HK and then get back to Manila? Then you needn't apply one in advance if your stay in HK is less than 7 days.

Yes, we go to Macau first and go back to HK before our flight to go to Ocean Park. What proof do we need to show that we are going to Macau first? We are planning to take the ferry from Central to Macau and buy the ticket when we get there.

We will be flying from Manila to HK on Feb 2 and go to Macau on Feb 3 to 5. On Feb 5, we will go back to HK and spend a few days before going back to Manila on Feb 7. If we do this, we are not required to present the entry permit right? Are the ferry tickets to Macau a valid proof that we will only be in transit in HK prior to our visit to Macau?

According to the related rule, it has to be connecting air tickets.

I saw this in their website saying that if the final destination is Mainland China or Macao, no connecting air ticket is required. We actually visited HK last 2014 not knowing that we need an entry permit to enter HK. We were given 7days permit to stay after showing our hotel booking in HK for 5days and our flight details. We also went to Macao for a day trip. Is it safe to assume that the same will happen this time?

II. Holders of Passport of the People's Republic of China
1. Transit through Hong Kong
1) Holder of a valid passport of the People's Republic of China who travels with a connecting ticket from overseas through Hong Kong to a third country/region may stay in Hong Kong for up to 7 days without a Hong Kong entry permit. If the final destination is China's mainland or Macao, no connecting ticket is required.

Dear, if so, it’s possible for you to do that again just like before in 2014.
