Getting a FEC in third-tier city,

Hi! I ve been offered to teach in one of third tier cities of Zhejiang province. I talked to my prospective colleagues. Some of them are native speakers, some of them are not. They came officially, with Z visa and their Work Permit but they ve never heard about FEC, even though they ve obtained and even managed to prolong their Temporary Residence Permit. So my question is if one is a non-native foreign expert, arriving on Z type, does he have a right to urge the school to provide him with the booklet in case they refuse? Woulld he have a right to complain to PSB? Would he really need it in his every day life, say when traveling within the province or flying to Hong Kong? Any problems while leaving the country or changing an employer?Thank you

Srn, if you will teach in a private school, work permit is enough. I don’t think the PSB will handle your complaint.

You don’t need it in your everyday life. When you get the work Z type and enter PRC, you will go to the local PSB to apply for a residence permit. After you get the residence permit, you can use it to travel within the country. As for HK, you need to apply for an entry permit; the residence permit or FEC cannot cover your trip to HK.

When you plan to leave the country or change an employer, you need to cancel your current work permit and apply for a new one. It won’t cause any problem.
