Nanchang Old Town

I have not visited the city before, but I prefer to be away from the main commercial or tourist areas. I would like to find a cheap hotel near the old town, narrow streets, local markets, traditional people, city wall and old buildings. Can you recommend the area I need to be in - and where I can find a cheap hotel near subway so I have easy access to bullet trains.

The city has been under a large-scale renovation since 2013 and many buildings in the old town has been tore down and rebuilt. You may try your luck at these places: Jinshan Old Street, Tuanjie Road, Shizi Street, Zhongshan Road and North Erqi Road. Hope you can find what you have expected.
As for hotel, you may stay in Railway Station area, which has direct bus to the bullet train railway station. BTW, the bullet train railway station in the city cannot be reached by subway currently.
