Changsha Old Town

I have not visited the city before, but I prefer to be away from the main commercial or tourist areas. I would like to find a cheap hotel near the old town, narrow streets, local markets, traditional people, city wall and old buildings. Can you recommend the area I need to be in - and where I can find a cheap hotel near subway so I have easy access to bullet trains.

The city developed very fast in recent years and it's not easy to find the original old buildings. You may see some old buildings in Taiping Street, Pozi Street and Tianxin Pavilion area. But they have been renovated and developed into tourism destinations.
For the real old town meeting your demands, you may try the luck and walk deep into the narrow lanes around Huangxing pedestrian street. Also, you can find a hotel along the street. It's close to subway station. Many chain hotels have a branch there, like 7 Days inn, Hanting Express, Home Inn. You can search online and choose one based on your expection.
