About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Traveling from Japan

I am an American citizen, I am flying to Japan and I would like to go to Beijing for three days and then go back to Japan. Is it true that if I am an American citizen I can only travel from the US?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
George

Jorge, I think you have some misunderstanding on this issue. It's not required that you can only travel from the US merely because you are an American citizen. I never heard such a saying. However, if you fly from Japan to Beijing and fly back to Japan non-stop, your route is not eligible for the 72-hour free transit policy.
