Method of Renewal/Replacement of "M" visa whilst in Japan as a Tourist

Hi, currently in China on a 12 month duration M category, due to expire middle January 2016. I need to renew/replace it and continue life in mainland. Is it possible to do so by flying to Japan, and applying for the renewal/replacement one whilst staying in Japan on tourist type? If so, what documentation is required, and what is the estimation of time required?

Gareth, if you fly to Japan, you can only re-apply for a new M type. The following documents are required containing the application form with a recently-taken passport-style photo, your passport and copy of its Data page, your valid entry permit to Japan (original and copy), as well as an invitation letter from your trade partner in PRC. It usually takes 4 working days for the processing. But if you apply in a third country, it’s unlikely for you to obtain one with multiple entries for 12 months. You may only get a singly-entry one.
