About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Going from Taiwan to Shanghai

I am a US citizen visiting Taiwan while am here I would like to Shanghai for 2days and Back to Taiwan. Then in some days later then visit another Asian country is that possible.

Chenna, according to what you said, you cannot enjoy 72 hour free transit because after a transit in Shanghai, you fly back to the departure region. You should apply for an entry permit to PRC in advance.
