About:China Train

How do i buy a ticket for a chinese national and get a refund if they dont use it?

Can they exchange it for cash even if i paid for it?

It depends on the way you buy it. If you buy the paper ticket directly, you get cash from station if you cancel it. If you buy the e type online, the station only refund the moeny to the card paid for it. You cannot get cash on spot.

In addition, if you haven't take the paper based ticket, you can change it online. Once you got the paper ticket (Even if you buy it online), you have to go to ticket office at train station for refund or change. Most station have a special counter which have this following words “退票” and “改签”.

While request for refund, it has a fee following this rules: If request refund for ticket at 48hours before train depart, It is free. If request between 48 to 24 hours before depart, the fee is 10% of your ticket price. While less than a day (24hours) before trains depart, the fee is 20%.
