going from a tourist visa to a m type

Question

hey i have come to china and been travelling around and now have been offered a job with a dance company. i want to know can i change my L type to a M type in PRC or will i have to go back to australia?any help would be great,thanks

Once you have a valid visa, you cannot apply for another one.  Use your current L type until it expires, then apply for the business M type/work Z type if still with the company.I am currently in this process with a L type switching to a business M type, although I am working for an overseas company and not a Chinese company. There could be difference in allowing you to work under a current visa till expire. I would not worry about it IMHO. Use your current L type till it expires and apply for business after.
