can I apply for a different visa when i get to china

Can i switch from a tourist L type to a business M type while in PRC?

Tom, it is possible for you to change L to M type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB in PRC, but I cannot tell you for sure it will work.
If possible, you’d better apply for a business M type in the first place. It will save a lot of trouble.
