Proof of Legal Status

I'm a Canadian finishing university in the Philippines. As my "Proof of Legal Status" I want to submit a copy of my Student ID. My issue is it also says "You must provide the ORIGINIAL and photocopy of your valid certificates..." I need my school ID so, do I still have to give it to them or will a photocopy do?

James, if you submit the student ID as your "Proof of Legal Status", you need to provide the original copy and the embassy will keep it for about four working days. In case that it's not convenient for you, you can submit other materials to prove your legal stay, for example, a letter from your university.

Thanks for your reply Andrew! and I think I typed it wrong it should be "Proof of Legal Stay" Anyway, if I do decide to submit even my original ID, will it serve as a valid "Proof of Legal Stay"? And if you don't mind me asking, what is your basis for answering are you speaking from personal experience? :)

Well, the student ID can serve as a valid proof of legal stay. I read some information on the websites of many overseas Chinese embasssies and all of them require this proof of legal stay for third-country applicants. Student certificate is one of the documents they mentioned. If you doubt whether it would be ok, you can submit your student visa in the Philippines.
