Accommodation proof

I am traveling to Shanghai in February 2016 to visit my son. I will not be staying with him but in other private accommodation which he has arranged for me. What proof of address is required for my visa? Do I need a letter of invitation from him?

Dear, you can ask your son to issue an invitation letter to you and write the address you are going to live. In this case, the consular officer may require the house owner to issue relevant certificate. It's a little bit complicated.
Or, you can just say that you will live with your son and write your son's address in the invitation letter. It will be convenient.
