X2 Visa confusion

Basically, there seems to be no-one on this planet who can answer the following: if I get the X2 allowing me to stay for a specific period of time (e.g. 3 months or 6 months), by how much and how many times can this be extended? Is it only possible to extend it once and only for the same amount of time (duration of stay) that I am granted on the first issuance? So, if I am issued a 3-month duration of stay on the first issuance I can only extend by another such period and that is it? No more extension?
Is it then possible to stay for one year on this at all?

Hey, it costs around CNY 168 to do the extension. According to what I know, you can only extend it once. Duration of stay will be no longer than that you acquired for the first time. Previously, foreigners can extend two times.

It's not easy to do the extension because you are required to provide required documents, such as temporary accommodation registration form acquired when you registered at local police station within 24 hours and a letter from your school that proves you need to extend your stay to finish the course. If you get all required documents, then you need to go to local entry and exit management bureau to submit your documents. They will decide how long duration of stay you will acquire.
