About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Going from belling to Tokyo, is this okay for the 72 hour transit free visa?

My plane arrives from New York and gets to beiljing 6:30pm....I am catching a plane to Tokyo at 7:20pm the next day but there is a connection to Shanghai for 14 hours. Then I leave at 11:40 am the next day. I will be in China for 39 hours before I go to Tokyo.

Tony, you are not eligible for the 72 hour free transit because you stop over in two Chinese cities, while according to relevant policy, you are supposed to stop in one.
You should apply for a transit G type before your trip.
