Wanting to know what bus or train to catch from baiyun airport to sofitel hotel in city centre.

You mean the Sofitel Hotel at no. 988 on Middle GZ Avenue, right? Well, take shuttle bus line 6 to Citic Plaza, and walk southeast for about 0.5 mile to the hotel. Or, you may take metro line 3 to Linhe West Station, Exit B, and walk southeast for about 0.5 mile to the hotel.
