About:Beijing Capital Airport Express Train

7 hour layover at Capital Airport

Do you think a 7 hour layover is enough to catch the subway and see Tiananmen Square and Forbidden city? I should catch the Airport Express Train and then line 2 to Qianmen, right? Is it faster than a taxi?

Well, you can have a quick visit of Tiananmen Square and see the Forbidden City from outside . But you don't have time to tour around Forbidden City. If you have enough time, you can also go to Qianmen Street. You can taste many local snacks there. Have fun!

The AE to Dongzhimen takes around half an hour on the way. Then transfer to subway line 2 to Qianmen Station, Exit A. After that, walk north around 0.5 miles (one kilometer) to arrive at Tiananmen Square. In usual time, taking taxi is faster. But if it is the traffic jam, taking subways will be the best choice.

Notably, you are advised to go back to the airport two hours before the flight departure.
